Internet Findings, pt.2

Hey, I've been quite busy at work so I couldn't proceed with the coloring for the illustration, plus, I just decided to submit an illustration for a contest so I'm going to focus on it for the time being.
Hope it goes well.

To keep your eyes full until new progress is made, I just got a group of my latest internet findings to share, there you go!
First of all, I just discovered the fantasy comic by Joann Sfar and Lewis Trondheim called Dungeon, I had never heard about it before and I dig its style and characters.
Some part of the comic are incredibly well drawn.
I like the cover for volume 3 and these panels where a sky battle takes place

I guess I should be checking more European comics, because I usually follow only French, Spanish and English artists; I need to broaden my view a little bit more.
Speaking of Englis comics, I found some covers of 2000 A.D.'s comics by Mike McMahon but I'll keep them for another post.

Then, off to Japan! When I got those Thinking Battalion doujinshis their 90's manga style had a hold of me, I never cared much about that particular kind of fantasy drawing, mainly because I always had more  interest in the whole Asagaya school's artists (I'll talk about them sometimes), but I explored the web for more examples and found myself attracted to it, especially by Tenchi Muyo characters' costumes.

See those colors? Those overlaying amount of capes, clothes, scarves? That's what I enjoy, it's a very good idea and keeps the characters interesting.
I remember early 90's fantasy characters from Japan for the massive use of huge shoulder-pads and crazy armors. I had a couple of comics I want to pull out of my boxes with great-looking characters and monsters.
To end the post, a thing I found by chance (or luck) on my web trips and is so crazy it blew my brain out: a comic, Ore Wa Nama-Gundam by Jun Hanyunyu, where Gundam's robots are transformed into people; I was in awe when I first saw it; sadly I found only a Japanese scanned version, so I couldn't understand the story, but the characters are so insane that looking thru the comicbook's pages is a pleasure in itself.

Isn't that nuts? The Zaku character is fantastic, but what really made me think that Hanyunyu is a genius are the Doms, with the hoodies and the nose emerging from their darkness as the original Dom's eye.
This stuff is wonderful; I want to find out more about Hanyunyu.
That's it for today, hope you enjoy these pictures. I'm leaving for the weekend so no new post until Wednesday I think, until then, ciao!
